Steve Barjonah's tattoo career
began in 1988 in San Diego, CA. while serving in the U.S. Navy, aboard the
U.S.S. Elliot (DD967). Shipmate Rick Demyen, the resident artist
and tattooer, saw Steve's interest and offered him an apprenticeship.
31/2 years later, Steve was honorably discharged and began tattooing full-time
at Avalon Tattoo with Fip Buchanan, Patty Kelley, and Mike Stobbe.
"working on the general public was like starting all over again!",
say's Steve, "And working at Avalon with some high-power artists really
got me on the right track. I am eternally grateful for all their
help". During that time, Steve worked at and attended many
conventions across the U.S., watching and learning from some of the best in
the business, including some special visits with Paul Jeffries to get tattooed
and have some " Advanced Apprenticeship" lessons in drawing
composition and flash designing. Steve continues to push himself to the
next level and really enjoys being a part of this exciting and ever-changing
art form.
"My favorite tattoo? The NEXT
ONE!"
